FAQ’s About Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy

visualization of knee pain

The fact that therapeutic acupuncture point injections can provide relief from pain, boost the immune system, and magnify the benefits of acupuncture treatment, sounds too good to be true.

Yet this integrative therapy, which combines the best of Chinese medicine with conventional and homeopathic medicine, does all that and more, according to Dr. Brandon Fuller of Absolute Acupuncture & Stress Relief (AANSR)

“My patients can expect to experience relief from pain within a short period of time,” said Fuller, who is a Florida-licensed and board-certified acupuncture physician with 16 years of clinical experience.

Of course, acupuncture, which is proven to reduce pain and inflammation, is always the first line of treatment. “If after the first session, pain is reduced by 30 percent, I know we are on the right track: the patient will likely continue to get better with acupuncture on its own,” he explained. However, if those results are not achieved, Dr. Fuller will often begin to add customized acupuncture point injections.

After completing a series of treatments, the therapeutic results last a long time.  “I have patients who only come in once or twice a year for a follow-up. The rest of the days of the year they are pain free,” he confirmed.

Dr. Fuller acknowledged that the word “injection” can have negative connotations, especially for people who’ve had less than stellar experiences with pain relief injections of steroids and other chemicals from medical providers. That’s why he has provided answers, here, to his patients’ most frequently asked questions.

Q. What is in the injection?

A. Acupuncture point injections are all natural. They can be made up of vitamins, minerals, sterile saline solutions, homeopathic compounds, and/or Chinese medicinal herbs. Depending on the needs of the patent, they are selected for their analgesic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Q. How do the injections provide pain relief?

A. By stimulating powerful acupuncture points with proven natural substances the body is affected on a deeper level, creating a profound healing climate for pain relief.

Q. Are there any other benefits to getting acupuncture point injections?

A. Yes. Acupuncture injection therapy continues to stimulate the trigger points that promote healing; therefore, patients will experience longer-lasting effects from a single treatment.

Q. What conditions respond best?

A. Acupuncture point injection therapy is particularly effective for the resolution of acute and chronic pain in the body, particularly in the shoulder, back, knee, and neck.
